I really don't know why they wouldn't.

I mean, once you “retire” or whatever, why do you need a security clearance?

You don't.

Just like when cops retire, most of them still pack. They don't need concealed or open carry permits (to my knowledge).

President Donald Trump is considering revoking the security clearances from former intelligence officials who served under former President Barack Obama.
